The Sri Lanka High Commission in Canberra last week celebrated Vesak with the participation of the Sri Lankan Community in the Federal Capital.
This year’s Vesak Programme included a Dhamma Sermon conducted by Venerable Kotapola Upali Thero of the Sri Lanka Canberra Buddhist Vihara, said a statement from Sri Lankan High Commission.
At the end of the Sermon, the Thero transferred merit to the people who lost their lives and invoked blessing to the people who were affected by the tragic events in Sri Lanka.
The High Commission premises were decorated with Buddhist Flags, colourful Vesak lanterns and illuminations prepared by the High Commission Staff.
The gathering comprising around 150 Sri Lankans representing all religions of Sri Lanka attended the celebrations.
