Russian Federation has announced to impose a permanent ban on entry to its territory for an additional 131 Australian citizens involved in promoting the anti-Russian agenda, Russian foreign ministry said on Tuesday.
Russia’s foreign ministry in a statement said that the banned individuals included “representatives of the military-industrial complex, journalists and public figures who are forming an anti-Russian agenda in this country.
The list includes senior diplomats, officials associated with the Quad and AUKUS diplomatic and military partnerships, television journalists, army officials and the CEOs of several defense firms.
More individuals would be banned as long as Canberra does not intend to abandon its anti-Russian course and continues to introduce new sanctions, Russia’s foreign ministry warned.
Moscow already banned 235 Australian state-level politicians in April.
” The sanctions are a direct response to Australia’s earlier measures against Russian individuals and entities”, the statement read.
The most recent restrictions are part of a response to the politically motivated sanctions that the Australian Government, in coordination with the senior allies, has been placing on Russian individuals and entities. Russia will continue to update the travel ban list periodically, Russian embassy in Canberra published the foreign ministry statement on it’s social media accounts
Among those sanctioned are the co-chairwoman of the Union of Ukrainian Organizations in Australia and employees of companies such as Electro Optic Systems and Micro-X.
