In a heartfelt message, Prime Minister Anthony Albanese has extended warm wishes to all Australian Muslims as they commence the holy month of Ramadan.
“Ramadan Mubarak to all Australians of the Muslim faith,” the Prime Minister said. “Here in Australia, as Muslim communities across the nation come together to observe Ramadan, the prayers and feasts are marked by a rich diversity of customs and traditions. Yet, at their core, they share a common purpose: finding strength in discipline, compassion in abstinence, and renewal through a return to the essentials of faith.”
Albanese highlighted the significance of Ramadan as a time of self-reflection, charity, and communal unity. “This sacred month is reflected in acts of self-restraint, worship, and nightly gatherings to break the day-long fast. These practices bind Muslims together during Ramadan,” he said.

The Prime Minister also emphasized the importance of community and shared faith. “When the discipline of fasting gives way to the joy of the Iftar meal, we are reminded of the profound power of this holy month. It is a time that underscores the enduring and uplifting value of coming together in unity and faith.”
Praising the contributions of the Australian Muslim community, Albanese expressed gratitude for their ongoing impact on the nation. “The Australian Muslim community enriches our society and our country in countless ways. I thank you for your generosity, care, hard work, and aspirations, as well as your commitment to giving back to the community.”
Concluding his message, the Prime Minister wished all Australian Muslims a blessed and meaningful Ramadan. “May you have a blessed Ramadan,” he said.
