Malcolm Turnbull’s aim of legalising same-sex marriage by the end of the year is set to face headwinds with One Nation refusing to vote on a bill because of the citizenship drama while conservatives in his own ranks are proposing a new bill which is opposed by Labor and Liberal moderates.
One Nation leader Pauline Hanson Monday says her party will not help pass any “controversial
legislation” through the Senate until the citizenship drama is resolved.
Senator Hanson said parliament should be suspended while there were doubts on the eligibility of
MPs and indicated her party would not help pass a bill in support of same-sex marriage if the Yes vote
is prevails when the results are handed down on Wednesday.
