Newly appointed Nigerian High Commissioner to Australia, Ambassador Anderson Madubike has presented his Letters of Credence to the Governor-General of the Commonwealth of Australia, the Honourable David Hurley in Canberra in a colourful ceremony.
Governor-General warmly welcomed the Nigerian Envoy to Australia and expressed delight at the current state of the cordial relations between Nigeria and Australia.
“Governor-General commended Nigeria for her role in promoting peace and stability in West African sub region and other parts of Africa and the Government efforts in tackling terrorism by jointly collaborating with other neighboring countries”, said a statement issued by the High Commission of Nigeria on Friday.
Governor-General reiterated that Nigeria being the regional power in Africa and an in-road to the Africa sub region in terms of trade and investment was very important and strategic to Australia.
In response, the Nigeria Ambassador thanked the Governor-General for accepting him as the Nigeria High Commissioner to the Commonwealth of Australia and used the auspicious opportunity to convey the best wishes of Nigeria’s President and Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces, President Muhammadu Buhari (GCFR) and the good people of Nigeria while equally noting the very cordial relations that exist between Nigeria and Australia.
He further assured the Governor-General that the cordial relations between the two friendly countries would grow from strength to strength during his tenure of duty.
Nigerian High Commissioner informed that Nigeria used to have a monolithic economy, but concerted efforts are being made to diversify the economy and more emphasis is now being given to agriculture, infrastructure development and development of solid minerals sector.
The Nigerian envoy requested that Australia Government should take advantage of this opportunity and broaden the collaboration especially support in technical assistance and capacity building for mutual benefits of both nations.
Governor-General assured the Nigerian envoy of his resolve to further collaboration between the two countries. He wished the High Commissioner a successful tenure of duty in Australia.
