Dr Geoffrey Shaw, High Commissioner-designate to Pakistan called on High Commissioner for Pakistan Babar Amin in his office last week.
Dr Shaw is a senior career officer with the Department of Foreign Affairs and Trade and was most recently Ambassador, People Smuggling and Human Trafficking.
He was appointed as Australia’s next High Commissioner to Pakistan early last month and will replace Margaret Adamson.
During the call on both sides discussed issues of mutual interests and way forward to further enhance bilateral political, economic and trade relations between Pakistan and Australia.
Foreign Minister Marise Payne on appointment of new High Commissioner to Pakistan had said in a statement that Australia and Pakistan enjoy a long-standing relationship built on our shared strategic interests, Commonwealth heritage and strong community links.
