Pakistan High Commissioner offers institutionalize cooperation between Canberra and Islamabad

High Commissioner for Pakistan Babar Amin Friday held a meeting with Andrew Barr Chief Minister, Australian Capital Territory (ACT) and highlighted the potential for mutual collaboration with ACT and Islamabad Capital Territory (ICT) in cultural exchanges, sports, information communication technology and training of human resources.

He briefed the Chief Minister on the devolution of power to the provinces and municipal authorities in Pakistan.

The High Commissioner stated that Pakistan would like to institutionalize cooperation and exchanges between ICT and ACT and invited the Chief Minister to visit Islamabad along with a trade delegation.

He emphasized the need for creating linkages among Canberra based educational institutions and universities like Quaid-e-Azam University, COMSATS and NUST in Islamabad.

Welcoming the High Commissioner, the Chief Minister hoped that cultural and educational exchanges between the ACT and ICT would increase with mutual efforts.

He stated that ACT was keen to increasing collaboration in projects related to information and communication technologies, consultancy services in public administration and infrastructure development.
